WireCo WorldGroup in Sedalia, MO is seeking a Spooler Operator / Respooler to transfer wire from bobbins onto correct bobbins for production and ensure proper winding.

The role requires basic literacy, math and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to read micrometers and tape measures, and to follow safety and quality standards. Qualifications

  • Basic reading and numeracy required; ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to learn to use micrometers, tape measures, feeler gauges and common hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and organize partial bobbins and assemble full bobbins.
  • Load wire bobbins into let-off stands and spooler take-up.
  • Thread wire through guides and tension rollers; ensure proper winding.
  • Weld leading end of new supply to trailing end of wound wire when needed.
  • Observe spooler operation to prevent tangles and maintain tension.
  • Record production and maintain spool totals for orders.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow quality standards.

The Spooler Operator / Respooler is responsible for transferring wire from bobbins onto the correct bobbins for production.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sort and organize partial bobbins returned from machines, combining partial bobbins into full bobbins.
  • Load wire bobbins into let-off stands using a mechanical hoist as staged by the Wire Clerk.
  • Load empty bobbin in the spooler take-up.
  • Thread wire through guides and tension rollers and fasten to bobbin in take-up.
  • Weld leading end of new supply to trailing end of wound wire when required.
  • Engage spooler and observe operation to ensure proper winding and prevent tangles.
  • Make adjustments as required to ensure proper tension and uniformity of winding.
  • Remove full bobbins from take-up and stage in trays or proper storage area and attach proper tags.
  • Record all production and maintain a running total of wire spooled for special orders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area by disposing of all scrap and debris in proper containers.
  • Perform all job duties in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
  • Responsible for his/her own safety and the safety of those around the machine.
  • Regular attendance, punctuality and the ability to work scheduled shifts including overtime when necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or ability to demonstrate basic literacy and math proficiency through education, experience, or assessment.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Possess math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have the ability to learn to use and read micrometers, tape measures, feeler gauges, and basic hand tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements

The physical requirements described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform other material handling activities
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Operate or work around forklifts, powered industrial trucks, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Work in manufacturing, warehouse, dock, and shipping environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
  • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Strand and Wire rope of various diameters and lengths, on reels or in coils, empty or unassembled reels, paper lagging strips, tags, seizing wire, blocking, thimbles.
  • Rewinding machines, stanchions, shafts, collars, bushings, rope cutters, measuring devices, fork trucks, banding equipment, welders, and various hand tools
Additional Information
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a post-offer background check.
