Job summary

Boston University is seeking a Cash Application Analyst within the Research Financial Operations team to ensure accurate and timely application of sponsor payments. The role reports to the Assistant Director, Accounts Receivable and Cash Operations and collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Programs to resolve discrepancies and support compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2–3 years of experience in university or cash management.
• Strong organizational, time management, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and handle ad-hoc tasks.

Responsibilities

• Upload daily bank files and investigate unmatched payments.
• Escalate unresolved items timely and appropriately.
• Apply incoming payments (ACH, wire, checks) to sponsored accounts in line with award terms.
• Reconcile sponsor payments against invoices and award records for accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied funds in coordination with internal/external partners.
• Maintain documentation of payment activity and support audit readiness.
