Job summary

CableCom, LLC is seeking a Coax Splicer in Tacoma, WA to perform aerial and underground cable upgrades, splicing, testing and troubleshooting for telecom networks. You will follow safety standards and document work daily.

Requirements include 18+, US work authorization, high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license with clean record, ability to pass DOT physical, and 6 months coax splicing or 1 year telecom experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years old and legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical exam and maintain a medical card.
  • Six months coax splicing experience or one year in telecom.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground, with guidance.
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.
  • Ensure splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
  • Safely work at heights and in varied environments, including underground and aerial locations.
  • Document daily production reports and material usage accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

At CableCom, LLC, as a Coax Splicer, you'll work in telecommunications construction, splicing coaxial system networks for communication companies that provide internet, cable TV, and telephone services.

What you'll do
  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned
What you'll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles

The wage range for Splicer I Coax is$23.00 - $28.00.
