Job summary

Tulsa County is seeking a Splash Park Technician Assistant to support operation of Chandler Park's splash facility during the summer season (May–October). Under general supervision, you will assist in keeping the park safe and functional for public and private use, including routine checks and system startup and shutdown procedures.

Responsibilities cover servicing water pumps, sand filters, valves, UV light, chlorine and pH control, and keeping equipment and grounds clean and orderly.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of splash park system operation and safety.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions.
  • Strong manual dexterity for heavy labor.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with safe operation of Splash Park facility.
  • Assist with servicing water pumps, filters, valves, UV, chlorine and pH control.
  • Maintain park facilities and grounds, including trash, mowing, repairs.
  • Run lifts, loaders, sump pumps and operate irrigation.
  • Perform off-season shutdown/startup procedures.

Performs periodic routine checks and services during the off season and performs shut down and start up procedures to maintain the system by performing the following duties.# # Job Description**Safety-Sensitive Position:** **Yes (as defined under Oklahoma Statute Title 63 § 427.8****All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.****Essential Job Functions*** Assist with operation of the Splash Park facility in a safe and economical manner for public and private use.* Assist with servicing and maintaining water pumps, sand filters, sediment/debris screens, feature valves, system plumbing, UV light, chlorine and Ph levels and programs in order to keep the system running at peak performance.* Maintain shelters, restrooms, pump room, grounds and parking lot of this area to include trash pickup, mowing, edging, blowing, tree maintenance, painting, fence maintenance, playground structure maintenance, service, and repairs.* Run lifts, loaders, and sump pumps.* Operate and maintain the irrigation system.* Perform all duties of an Operator-Maintenance III-labor position during the time the Splash Park is not in operation.* Perform other duties as assigned.# # Additional Job Description**Qualifications**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**Knowledge of mechanical operation of the splash park system; of the hazards and safety precautions of the work; of departmental policies and procedures; and of general park maintenance.Skill in Splash Park operations; in operating the control programs (Maestro) to each subsystem of the total operations; in filtration screens, elevation pumps, each feature plumbing and operation, ventilation and heating, holding tank filling and draining, and rain diverter switch.Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; to operate trucks and other motorized equipment; to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods; to use hand and mechanical tools and equipment; and to read and understand chemical labels.**Computer Skills**To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; and Project Management software.**Supervisory Responsibilities**This job has no supervisory responsibilities.**Education and/or Experience**One year certificate from a college or technical school; plus three to six months related experience.**Language Skills**Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.**Mathematical Skills**Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.**Reasoning Ability**Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
