Job summary

Community Healthcare of Texas is currently recruiting for a Spiritual Care Coordinator in Waco, TX. The role provides spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff, and helps connect families with avenues of spiritual care.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and prefers a Master’s degree with CPE. Hospice and grief counseling experience are highly valued, with on-call duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies required.
• Will consider substituting a non-religious studies bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of direct spiritual care experience for a Religious Studies degree.
• Strongly prefer a Master’s degree with or working on Clinical Pastoral Education units.
• Grief counseling experience preferred.
• Hospice experience strongly preferred.
• Must be proficient in using a computer.
• Must have excellent listening skills.
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family with spiritual care needs; participate in the plan of care
• Provide spiritual and emotional support according to the plan of care
• Participate in on-call rotation and various schedules/duties as assigned or needed
• Document visits/phone calls according to Policy
• Participate in Interdisciplinary Team meetings
• Provide aftercare and bereavement support in cooperation with the Bereavement Coordinator
• Provide spiritual and emotional support for staff

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies

Master’s degree with CPE (preferred)
