Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Lead for Orthopedics in Saint Louis, MO, joining the Integrated Spine Team on the 174 spine unit. The role combines clinical leadership with hands-on patient care across orthopedic and neurologic spine patients.

The Lead Nurse coordinates daily operations, mentors staff, and supports the Nurse Manager while developing expertise and implementing best practices within a high‑quality inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure
• 2-5 years nursing experience
• Strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting.
• Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family.
• Actively utilizes evidence-based practices; participates in journal clubs and promotes practice change based on new knowledge.
• Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers to enhance safe patient care and patient satisfaction.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position requiring a high level of alertness.
