Position Overview

The General Manager is responsible for effectively managing all facets of their gym, including hiring, training, development of team members, and overall gym operations. This includes delivering excellent customer service to members while role-modeling the organization's values and culture.

Member Experience Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional gym member experience
• Oversee member experience within the gym and lead by example
• Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service to our members
• Provide effective decision-making regarding customer service issues to ensure a positive member experience
• Ensure members receive the best fitness experience by walking the gym floor and assisting when needed
• Manage member feedback of gym

Team Member Experience Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional team member experience
• Hire, train, and schedule all gym-level staff
• Train and develop front desk and frontline team members on standard operating processes involving member acquisition and onboarding
• Manage and evaluate performance of gym team members
• Oversee team member bi-weekly payroll, ensure missed punches are corrected, and submissions are timely

Gym Management Responsibilities

• Facilitate and monitor company-wide initiatives
• Ensure the facility is clean and operationally sound; organize weights and inspect equipment
• Manage gym operations, inventory, and assets
• Promote and stay aware of the gym's social media and digital presence
• Understand budgeting, inventory, payroll, labor management, and facilities maintenance
• Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape and community around the gym
• Perform interviews regularly to prevent open positions in operations or fitness

Qualifications

• Fitness industry experience preferred but not required
• Promotionally-oriented with ability to direct sales through outreach programs
• Strong customer service skills with proven results
• Understanding of performance metrics: P&L, revenue, budgeting, inventory, payroll, cost controls, facilities maintenance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Open, participative leadership style and drive for excellence
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and professional demeanor
