Job summary

Spider Management Company offers a summer internship to Fall 2026 sophomores majoring in Business/Finance or quantitative disciplines. You will engage in research, data collection, and analysis on potential investments, participate in team meetings, and gain exposure to asset management across multiple classes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist research, data collection, and analysis on potential investments.
  • Produce reports and manage databases; support compliance.
  • Attend team meetings and meetings with external investment managers (virtual or in-person).
  • Take on ad-hoc projects to improve processes and present findings.

Job DescriptionSpider Management Company Summer Internship Opportunity for UR Partner Institutions ONLY: Virginia State University, Hampden-Sydney College, Randolph College, University of Lynchburg, The Citadel, Campbellsville University, Longwood University, PGA First Tee affiliation

POSITION SUMMARY:

Spider Management's (Spider's) internship program is intended to expose a sophomore student to a wide range of strategies across the asset management industry.Spider Management Company is the investment office for the University of Richmond and a select group of other non-profit organizations. Spider's 23-person team is split between Investments, Operations, and Investor Relations.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience across the organization's three teams. Projects could include, but are not limited to, research, data collection and analysis on potential investments, report production, database management, compliance, and market analysis. Candidates will attend team meetings, as well as have the opportunity to attend meetings with external investment managers across asset classes (meetings may be virtual or in-person). Candidates will also have the opportunity to take on ad-hoc projects to improve the team's processes and/or explore select topics of interest for the purpose of presenting their findings to the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Fall 2026 Sophomore, preferably majoring or minoring in Business/Finance or another quantitative disciplineMust have excellent academic credentialsFully developed quantitative and analytical skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office products; advanced Excel and/or PowerPoint skills preferredStrong communication skills, both written and oralAbility to multi-task and work independentlyDetail-oriented and extremely proactiveSelf-starterHigh level of professionalism and integrityCooperative attitude - must be a team playerInterest in investment management industry, particularly non-profit investment managementMust adhere to Spider Management Company's Code of Ethics policy

REQUIRED:

Fall 2026 Sophomore Student; Econ and Finance majors strongly preferredStudent attending a UR Partner Institution (see above if your institution is listed)Resume and cover letter Copy of Unofficial College Transcript

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm; schedule times may vary.Pay Rate: $20 to $25 an hour. This is an 8 to 10-week part-time, temporary position, mid-May to mid-August 2027.
