Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA seeks an SPG Segment Lead Accounting Business Partner to lead the consolidated SPG Balance Sheet close, pre-close, and quarter-end activities.

You will partner with BU Finance, Corporate Accounting and shared services to ensure timely, accurate reporting and compliant controls. The role demands strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and ERP systems, with a focus on inventory reserves, policy application, and cross-functional collaboration across finance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred; active CPA not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate SPG Balance Sheet Review, pre-close, and quarter-end close processes with Business Unit Finance and shared service teams.
• Manage SPG close deliverables, including corporate reporting, reserve reviews, inventory and related management review materials.
• Identify accounting, control, and business risks and communicate actionable insights to business partners and leadership.
• Perform in-depth analysis of inventory reserves, including reserve rollforward, aging, and trend analysis.
• Support SOX controls across SPG, including training, walkthroughs, testing, issue identification, and remediation with Internal Audit and external auditors.
• Monitor open internal control issues and ensure timely closure and visibility in financial processes.
