Responsibilities

The Home Health Speech Therapist (ST, SLP) assesses and evaluates patient needs related to speech and language disorders, and provides functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments.

• Provides services within the scope of practice defined by state laws, in accordance with the care plan, and in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Evaluates patient function using diagnostic and prognostic tests and assists physicians in developing the therapy plan.
• Treats patients to improve communication effectiveness based on their condition, following acceptable standards of practice.
• Instructs patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members in speech therapy areas for participation and support.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Must be licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of practice
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
