Fee For Service Speech Therapist

Now Hiring Per Visit Speech Pathologists in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens!

The Fee-For-Service Pediatric Speech Pathologist is responsible for planning and providing speech and language rehabilitation services to patients at home. This includes working with patients, families, and others to provide training and assistive devices for speech and language rehabilitation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Developing treatment plans that include treatment modalities, visit frequency, expected outcomes, and short-term goals.
  2. Assessing patients and creating therapeutic care plans for therapy, including swallowing disorders.
  3. Evaluating test results to determine the presence and extent of speech, language, or swallowing disorders.
  4. Assessing patient limitations and rehabilitation potential in collaboration with agency professionals.
  5. Recommending therapeutic devices and equipment to maintain or restore speech and language performance.
  6. Considering the patient's psychological response to disease effects and body image changes.
  7. Addressing patient needs with realistic short-term and long-term treatment plans.
  8. Implementing treatment plans under physician guidance and in collaboration with agency staff.
  9. Providing speech and language rehabilitation services to meet identified goals.
  10. Planning, directing, and supervising patients, families, and health team members in exercises and equipment use.
  11. Teaching the use of adaptive equipment to patients, families, and health professionals.
  12. Instructing patients and families in exercises for maintenance and progress.
  13. Counseling patients and families to aid interaction and adjustment to limitations.
  14. Monitoring, recording, and reporting patient reactions and changes to physicians and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Valid license and registration to practice as a Speech Pathologist in New York State.
  2. Master of Arts in Speech Pathology.
  3. At least 1 year of experience in hospital, long-term care, rehab, or home health settings.
  4. Experience with pediatric populations is a plus.
  5. Ability to make home visits in potentially unsafe or unsanitary environments and travel via public transportation in community areas.
  6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 325 pounds with assistive devices.
