Job summary

Patchogue-Medford School District is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Teacher to provide evaluation, consultation, and direct services to elementary students. You will collaborate with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support students' communication needs and access to the curriculum.

The role requires strong assessment, intervention, and documentation skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload within a fast-paced school

Qualifications

• Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in Speech.
• CCC-SLP certification preferred.
• Experience with augmentative and alternative communication devices preferred.
• Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide rigorous, engaging instruction addressing student IEP goals and NYS curriculum standards.
• Use culturally and linguistically responsive practices to instruct students of varying cultural backgrounds.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, related service providers, and support staff to provide a team-oriented approach.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, strengths, and needs.
• Prepare trimester and annual progress reports.
• Complete student IEPs using Frontline IEP, including present levels of performance, goals, and accommodations.
• Conduct and complete evaluations in a timely manner.
• Complete accurate log notes using Frontline IEP.
• Collect and record data regarding student progress towards IEP goals.
• Use AAC and assistive technology as needed to address student needs.
• Participate in IST meetings to provide pre-referral strategies and interventions.
• Use a variety of interventions to support progress towards goals before considering more restrictive placements.
• Implement data-driven interventions to address gaps in learning.
• Demonstrate a reflective mindset towards instructional practice.
