ACLD is seeking a Lead Speech Pathologist in Bay Shore, NY to provide clinical leadership and mentorship to the Speech Department. You will guide, coach, and support staff, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based therapy and goal implementation aligned with IEPs.

The role requires extensive clinical supervision experience, NYS licensure, CCC-SLP, and a Master’s degree in SLP. You will oversee evaluation, documentation, and service delivery across settings.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Licensure and CCC-SLP certification in NYS required.
  • Experience supervising staff in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead Speech Pathologist:

Primary Purpose of Job

Assist Speech Department Supervisor in providing clinical leadership, oversight and expertise to ensure the delivery of high quality developmentally appropriate, evidence – based, speech, language, and communication therapy. Guide, advise, coach, and serve as an integral part of our employee clinical support system. Serve as an accountability partner, who will assist in setting clinical goals for department members, and encourage responsibility and commitment. Offer support and encouragement and serve as a role model. Clinical guidance, support & mentorship to include

  • Case consultation
  • Fidelity monitoring
  • Support with IEP goal implementation in the classrooms/therapy sessions
  • Teach/Coach/Supervise Clinical Staff (SLP)

Requirements

  • Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification (T.S.H.H.) or Teacher of Students with Speech and Language disabilities (T.S.S.L.D.)
  • M.A. /M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • NYS License and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising staff.
  • Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting up to 25
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • In Depth knowledge: of AAC devices and communication applications, and speech-language assessment software
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision and mentoring of Speech-Language Pathologists, Clinical Fellows, and support staff
  • Support AAC assessment and implementation
  • Analyzing service delivery effectiveness through data
  • Make sound clinical and administrative decisions
  • Conduct Staff performance evaluations
  • Knowledge of cultural and linguistic diversity in assessment and intervention
Essential Functions
  • Provide oversight and support to Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) to ensure consistent standards of practice
  • Work collaboratively with educational leadership, teachers, related service professionals and families to support functional communication across, classroom, therapy room and natural learning environments
  • Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Support the evaluation of the effectiveness and quality of speech-language services delivered
  • Promote shared responsibility for student communication development across settings
  • Provide leadership in selecting and implementing communication modalities
  • Build staff capacity to support student communication across environments
  • Support department leadership in maintaining quality and service integrity
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Training and support to ensure accurate documentation and appropriate service delivery
  • Contribute to ongoing program improvement and quality assurance efforts
  • Conduct and review speech-language evaluations
  • Interpreting assessment data and develop treatment recommendations
  • Attend team and departmental meetings
  • Other duties and functions as determined by Leadership Administration
