Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, part of the Inova Health system, is seeking a dedicated Speech Pathologist (SLP) to join our inpatient rehab team on a PRN basis. The role requires two weekend shifts per month, plus one minor and one major holiday, supporting high-quality patient care.

PRN SLPs will evaluate, treat, and document patient progress, collaborating with families to prioritize activities and maximize participation. Experience mentoring junior staff is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) required.
• Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Virginia required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation, treatment and documentation.
• Collaborates with patient and/or family to set treatment priorities and maximize participation.
• Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness to gain patient involvement and adapt treatment environment as needed.
• Provides mentoring and supervision to new or less experienced staff and students.

Speech Pathologist (SLP) Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation treatment and documentation.
• Collaborates with the patient and/or family whenever possible to set treatment priorities and select activities that maximize participation in the treatment process as evidenced by feedback and observation.
• Demonstrates creativity, diversity and resourcefulness to gain patient involvement, to accommodate special circumstances or needs of the patient or adapt the treatment environment to optimize patient responses evidenced by team feedback and observation.
• Provides clinical mentoring and operational guidance, education, and/or supervision to new or less experienced staff, students and support personnel. Acts as an approachable, tactful mentor in all situations. Takes a proactive role with new or inexperienced staff in developing their clinical and administrative skills as evidenced by staff feedback and outcomes of mentoring efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP)
• Licensure : Speech Language Pathologist licensed (Virginia)
• Experience : 0 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathology
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualification:

• Speech Pathologist (SLP) experience in the hospital setting
