Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), PRN, to join our Acute Care team. This role involves patient evaluations, treatment, and discharge planning with weekend coverage and some holidays.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Speech Pathology or ASHA‑accredited degree, VA licensure, and BLS. New graduates may apply for CFY. Inova offers retirement matching and mental health support for employees.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to department policies for evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and team members.
• Performs re-evaluations and adjusts treatment plans as needed.
• Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to diagnosis, age group, and status.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Description Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), PRN to join our Acute Care team. This is role is PRN/as needed (at least 5 weekend shifts per quarter including 1 weekday day per month, 1 holiday coverage)

Speech Pathologist Job Responsibilities

• The Speech Pathologist 1 adheres to department policies regarding timeframe, form/content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, healthcare team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
• Completes all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit while demonstrating essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols.
• Performs re-evaluations, according to department guidelines, while adjusting treatment plans accordingly.
• Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and physical/emotional status of patients, while formulating appropriate treatment plans.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences Disorders accredited by ASHA.
• Experience: New Graduate Speech Language pathologist eligible for clinical fellowship.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association required upon start.
• Licensure: VA Speech Language Pathologist License required upon start or Provisional VA license accepted if candidate is being considered for Clinical fellowship. (Must be eligible for full active VA licensure upon completion of CFY.)

Preferred Qualification

• 1 year of Speech Pathologist (SLP) experience in the acute care setting
