Job summary

Inova Mt Vernon Hospital, part of Inova Health System, is seeking a Speech Pathologist (SLP) to join the Inpatient Rehab Therapy team on a PRN basis. The role focuses on advanced clinical evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation within a collaborative rehab setting.

The SLP will work with patients and families to set priorities, adapt therapies, and may mentor junior staff while contributing to a high-quality patient experience and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) required.
• Virginia licensure as Speech Language Pathologist required.
• 0 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation, treatment and documentation.
• Collaborates with the patient and/or family to set treatment priorities and activities that maximize participation.
• Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness to engage patients and adapt treatment environments as needed.
• Provides clinical mentoring and supervision to new or less experienced staff and students.

Speech Pathologist (SLP) Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation treatment and documentation.
• Collaborates with the patient and/or family whenever possible to set treatment priorities and select activities that maximize participation in the treatment process as evidenced by feedback and observation.
• Demonstrates creativity, diversity and resourcefulness to gain patient involvement, to accommodate special circumstances or needs of the patient or adapt the treatment environment to optimize patient responses evidenced by team feedback and observation.
• Provides clinical mentoring and operational guidance, education, and/or supervision to new or less experienced staff, students and support personnel. Acts as an approachable, tactful mentor in all situations. Takes a proactive role with new or inexperienced staff in developing their clinical and administrative skills as evidenced by staff feedback and outcomes of mentoring efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP)
• Licensure: Speech Language Pathologist licensed (Virginia)
• Experience: 0 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathology
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association.
