Job summary

REPORTS TO

Supervising Speech-Language Pathologist

This is a Part-time position with potential to become Full-time.

JOB SUMMARY

The Speech-Language Pathology Technician provides support to licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in delivering speech and language services to children ages birth through five. Working under the direction and supervision of a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist, including during telepractice services, the technician assists with implementing treatment plans, facilitating virtual therapy sessions, preparing therapy materials, collecting student performance data, maintaining equipment, and supporting children in educational settings. This position does not evaluate, diagnose, or independently develop treatment plans.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensed or registered with the Wyoming Board of Speech‑Language Pathology as required to practice under the supervision of a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist.

One year of experience working with young children, preferably in an educational, healthcare, or therapy setting, is preferred.

Experience supporting telepractice services is preferred.

Current American Heart Association CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Valid Wyoming driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Implement speech and language treatment activities as directed by the supervising Speech‑Language Pathologist.

Facilitate teletherapy sessions by preparing students, operating video conferencing technology, troubleshooting basic technology issues, and assisting children during virtual therapy sessions.

Reinforce speech and language skills through activities developed by the supervising SLP.

Collect and document student performance data and report progress to the supervising SLP.

Prepare, organize, and maintain therapy materials, visual supports, communication boards, AAC devices, and therapy equipment.

Schedule therapy sessions and coordinate student participation with classroom staff.

Assist with speech‑language screenings and observations under the supervision of the licensed SLP and within the technician's scope of practice.

Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations.

Communicate professionally with teachers, families, and other team members regarding scheduling and therapy support while referring clinical questions to the supervising SLP.

Participate in staff meetings, required training, and professional development activities.

Travel between Child Development Services locations within Fremont County as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities preferred.

Knowledge of child development and early childhood education.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with supervising remote Speech‑Language Pathologists.

Proficiency with Google Workspace, electronic documentation systems, and virtual meeting platforms.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Skills: Ability to operate computers, tablets, telepractice technology, therapy equipment, and standard office equipment; maintain accurate records; organize multiple assignments; collect student performance data; and demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and sound judgment.

Knowledge: Child development; basic speech and language intervention techniques; behavior management strategies; confidentiality requirements (HIPAA and FERPA); telepractice procedures; agency policies; and applicable state and federal regulations.

Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, educators, and healthcare professionals; maintain confidentiality; follow treatment plans developed by licensed Speech‑Language Pathologists; adapt to changing priorities; solve routine technology problems; work collaboratively with classroom staff and remote clinicians; maintain accurate documentation; and establish positive working relationships.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in preschool classrooms, therapy spaces, and office settings while supporting both in‑person and telepractice speech‑language services. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds, assisting young children during therapy activities, and regular use of computers, tablets, and video conferencing technology. Travel between Child Development Services locations within Fremont County may be required.

Pre‑employment drug testing is required for all CDSFC positions. The Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Safety Policy is available from the Human Resources office.
