Job summary

Tennyson Center for Children is hiring a Part-Time Speech Language Pathologist to provide diagnostic, consultative, and direct instructional services to students with speech language needs on an assigned caseload.

The SLP will assess students, interpret data, write reports, and deliver services within scope of practice, supervised by the principal and full-time SLP. Colorado licensure required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Valid Colorado SLP license (DORA).
  • Valid Special Services license with CDE as SLP.
  • One or more years of related experience.
  • Current Colorado driver’s license.
  • Pre-employment drug test and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify speech/language disabilities for students on caseload with supervision.
  • Document assessment findings, progress and recommendations per standards.
  • Provide individual and group instruction aligned with IEP goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of valid assessment measures and apply them appropriately.
  • Attend IEP meetings and communicate findings to parents and team.
  • Provide speech/language screenings for referred students.
  • Collect data to inform clinical decisions and service delivery.
  • Assist multidisciplinary team in educational decisions for students on caseload.
  • Provide in-service training to staff on language development needs.
  • Work independently with supervision from the full-time SLP.

The Part-Time Speech Language Pathologist provides diagnostic, consultative, and direct instructional services to students identified as having a speech language disability or speech language services on an assigned caseload. The SLP independently assesses students, interprets assessment data, writes professional reports, and delivers speech and language services within their scope of practice. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, they contribute to educational and instructional decisions regarding students on their assigned caseload. This position is supervised by the principal.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assesses and identifies speech/language disabilities for students on the assigned caseload with supervisory oversight from the full-time Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Implements reporting format for students assigned to the caseload, documenting assessment findings, progress, and recommendations in accordance with Tennyson Center standards and professional requirements.
  • Provides individual and group instruction to meet the identified speech/language needs of each student on the assigned caseload in accordance with IEP goals, exercising clinical judgment and independent decision‑making within the scope of the role.
  • Maintains current knowledge of valid and reliable formal and informal assessment measures designed to measure the speech/language skills of children and applies these measures appropriately for assigned students.
  • Attends IEP meetings for students on the assigned caseload, communicating speech‑language findings and recommendations in terms that are easily understood by parents and other team members.
  • Provides speech and language screening for referred students with speech language concerns on the assigned caseload.
  • Collects data and monitors progress for students on the assigned speech-language caseload to inform clinical decision‑making and service delivery.
  • Assists the multidisciplinary team in making appropriate educational and instructional decisions regarding students on the assigned caseload.
  • Provides in‑service instruction to staff regarding the language development needs of students on the assigned caseload.
  • Primarily works independently in clinical decision‑making and service delivery for the assigned caseload while maintaining supervisory oversight and regular consultation with the full-time Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Communicates regularly with the supervising Speech Language Pathologist regarding student progress, concerns, clinical observations, and recommendations for the assigned caseload.
  • Collects and contributes data for quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation related to speech‑language outcomes.
  • Maintains current applicable personal professional license and/or professional certification in Speech‑Language Pathology and obtains a Special Services license as an SLP with Colorado Department of Education (CDE).
  • Supports and advances quality improvement efforts through adherence to Tennyson Center policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and best practices.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre‑hire physical
  • Implement behavioral interventions as needed
  • May be required to assist with physical needs of students as required
Working Conditions
  • In person on campus work/school and treatment environment
  • Part‑time schedule: 20 hours per week (flexible scheduling to be determined)
  • Works under the supervision of the Full‑Time Speech Language Pathologist while independently managing and delivering services to an assigned student caseload
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology
  • Valid State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
  • Valid Special Services license with CDE as Speech Language Pathologist
  • One or more years of related experience
  • All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license
  • All positions require a pre‑employment drug test, FBI fingerprint check, CBI criminal records check, child abuse registry check, motor vehicle record check, academic record verification, and reference checks
