Job Summary:

To serve as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to evaluate children between the ages of birth through five (5), and to assist in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP). To provide individual therapy to children. To provide training to staff and parents in the areas of expressive and receptive language skills, oral motor functioning abilities, and remediation or adaptations to provide services for hearing impaired children and provide appropriate documentation of those services.

Duties/Responsibilities:

All duties will comply with all rules, regulations, and practices of the agency and its regulating authorities. WCFD standards, DFS licensing, NAEYC guidelines, Wyoming Division of Disabilities regulations, and WCFD policies. All employees will adhere to the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of WCFD.

  • Evaluate 0-5 year olds with standardized age-appropriate assessment tools.
  • Provide direct therapy to children in a variety of settings and weather conditions including the classroom, private childcare and preschools, and family homes.
  • Work within federal and state guidelines in providing therapy services.
  • Accurately calculate test results to obtain scores for the purposes of qualification of disabled children.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to parents and staff in pediatric language development and specific disabilities.
  • Participate in preschool screening activities as designated by the Director of Early Intervention/Area Coordinator/Center Coordinator.
  • Participate in meetings with program staff for the purpose of feedback, evaluation, modification, and progress of the enrolled children of the program.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, agency policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in the collection of data for providing appropriate classroom interventions.
  • Assist in preparation of data for local, state, and federal reports.
  • Provide training to staff and parents on techniques and procedures to use with a specific disability related to a child.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board or its designee.
  • Supervise SLPA as assigned and in conjunction with the Wyoming Board of Speech Pathology & Audiology.
  • Participates in child and family outreach and recruitment efforts
  • Ensure ability to perform job functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Board or its designee
  • Adhere to all policies, guidelines, and operational procedures set forth by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc.

Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language
  • Current certification, in good standing, issued by the State Department of Education and/or Wyoming Professional Licensing Board of Speech Pathology & Audiology and an American Speech and Language Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
  • Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age (state requirements).
  • Must be willing to attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc.
  • WCFD will only accept college degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Must be able to assist a child to safety in case of an emergency.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures, including hot and cold weather.
  • Ability to travel across a multi-county region; work in homes, community settings, and office environments; maintain flexible scheduling to meet availability needs.
