Job summary

UM Health Sparrow in Ionia, MI seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat adult and pediatric speech-language pathologies, as well as swallowing disorders in acute and outpatient settings. The role includes developing treatment plans, educating families, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology, Michigan licensure, ASHA membership, and CPR/BLS certification, with CFY/CCC-SLP preferred and experience with

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program in Speech/Language Pathology.
• Current Michigan Speech Language Pathology License.
• Membership in American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Completion of SLP Clinical Fellowship preferred.
• Certificate for Clinical Competence through ASHA (CCC-SLP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patients based upon referral and establish goals with patient/caregivers.
• Educate patients and caregivers about evaluation results, treatment methods, and at-home programs.
• Provide treatment according to the established plan within Speech Language Pathology scope.
• Document medical records according to established criteria.
• Re-evaluate patient progress and advise discharge planning.
• Communicate with other healthcare professionals verbally and in writing.
• Supervise Rehab Aides and students/interns as appropriate.
• Coordinate with support staff to streamline scheduling and billing.
• Participate in in-services, meetings and continuing education courses.
• Follow hospital policies to ensure patient safety and quality care.
