Job summary

ACCEL is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to provide consultative and direct therapy for AAC users in K-12+ settings. This full-time, 10-month position runs Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm, with paid school breaks and federal holidays.

You will evaluate students, write reports, develop IEPs, manage augmentative communication devices, participate in MET/IEP meetings, and collaborate with teachers and families to track progress and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Active Arizona SLP certificate and Department of Health SLP license.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• AHCCCS number for Medicaid billing; NPI number and AHCCS ID required.
• Employment is contingent upon successful background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultative and direct speech and language therapy services.
• Evaluate and write evaluation reports for students receiving services.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional programs.
• Program augmentative communication devices and monitor device maintenance.
• Participate in MET and IEP meetings when appropriate.
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure therapy is integrated into instruction.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to implement therapeutic and educational programs.
• Evaluate student progress and document progress at regular intervals.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents/caregivers and inform them of progress.
• Submit reports within designated timeframes; maintain accurate records and Medicaid billing.

Work Schedule & Paid Breaks

• Full -Time Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm
• 10 Month Position (August-May)
• Paid School Breaks! (Fall, Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring)
• Additionally, we observe federal holidays which often involve three-day weekends

ACCEL's student population consists of AAC users and students with a variety of developmental disabilities in K-12+ educational settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide consultative and direct speech and language therapy services.
• Evaluate and write evaluation reports for students receiving services.
• Develop and implement individualized educational plans and instructional programs.
• Responsible for programming augmentative communication devices and monitors maintenance requirements for those devices.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individual Education Plan (I.E.P) meetings when appropriate.
• Participate in the individual education planning, collaborating with teachers as appropriate for each student to receive speech/language therapy.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to implement therapeutic and educational programs.
• Provide ongoing and periodic evaluations of student's progress, documenting progress with the same frequency as for all ACCEL students.
• Develop and maintain a professional relationship with parents/caregivers and inform them of the student's progress.
• Submit all reports within designated time frames.
• Maintain an accurate record keeping system.
• Maintain attendance and hourly contact records for Medicaid.
• Submit Medicaid billing as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Valid Arizona Department of Education Speech-Language Pathologist Certificate and Department of Health Speech-Language Pathology License.
• Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Obtain an AHCCCS number for submission of Medicaid billing. Current NPI number and AHCCS ID will be needed.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a required background check.

Work Environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Clients may exhibit inappropriate physical behavior which may include hitting, biting, kicking, etc.
