Job summary

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, seeks a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide therapy for communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities include interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation, and patient/family education to promote functional independence and positive outcomes. Strong ASHA knowledge and licensure are required or in process; CFY preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• CFY completion preferred.
• Current licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the applicable state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within facility policy time frame.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA preferred.

• Conduct evaluations and assessments across age groups including speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals in collaboration with the patient and team.
• Implement evidence-based therapies in a timely manner and adjust plans as needed.
• Document sessions, progress, and discharge planning accurately.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff.
• Participate in team meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Supervise clinical fellows, students, and other personnel as applicable.

Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions for individuals with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders. The SLP maintains accurate and timely documentation, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and supports patient and family education to promote optimal functional independence and patient-centered outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Conduct evaluations and assessments appropriate to age and diagnosis, including developmental, cognitive, speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals in collaboration with the patient, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Reassess patient condition and update treatment goals and plans as needed.
• Provide patient and family education and counseling related to speech-language and swallowing needs.
• Accurately document treatment sessions, assessments, progress, and discharge plans.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent and effective rehabilitation plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to speech, language, and swallowing.
• Proficient in the use of assessment tools, therapy materials, and documentation systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Familiarity with ASHA and state practice standards.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
• Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) preferred

Licenses/Certifications
