Job summary

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Inc. in Lewiston, Idaho is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide interventions for communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders.

You will document accurately, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, support education for patients and families, and promote outcomes that maximize independence. New grads welcomed; we offer mentoring and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) completed or in progress.
• Current state licensure to practice as an SLP.
• BLS certification within required timeframe.
• ASHA CCC preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations and assessments across age groups for speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals alongside patient and family.
• Implement evidence-based therapy and monitor progress with timely documentation.
• Reassess conditions and update goals as needed during care.
• Educate patients and families on speech-language and swallowing needs.
• Document sessions, progress, and discharge plans accurately and promptly.
• Coordinate care with physicians and multidisciplinary staff for consistent rehab plans.
• Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise clinical fellows, students, and support personnel as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards and facility policies.

Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates patients, develops and implements treatment plans, and provides therapeutic interventions for individuals with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders. The SLP maintains accurate and timely documentation, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and supports patient and family education to promote optimal functional independence and patient-centered outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Conduct evaluations and assessments appropriate to age and diagnosis, including developmental, cognitive, speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals in collaboration with the patient, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Reassess patient condition and update treatment goals and plans as needed.
• Provide patient and family education and counseling related to speech-language and swallowing needs.
• Accurately document treatment sessions, assessments, progress, and discharge plans.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent and effective rehabilitation plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to speech, language, and swallowing.
• Proficient in the use of assessment tools, therapy materials, and documentation systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Familiarity with ASHA and state practice standards.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current licensure to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in applicable state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the timeframe required by facility policy.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA preferred.
• VitalStim certification preferred.

Experience

• One (1) year of experience in a rehabilitation or acute care setting preferred.
