Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to identify, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders to support students’ educational progress. This exempt, on-site role requires valid Ohio state licensure, an Ohio Pupil Services license, and Certificate of Clinical Competence, with a focus on student evaluation, IEP development, and collaborative interventions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students as part of the multifactorial evaluation process across articulation, language, voice, fluency, and related areas.
• Assist with development of individualized education program (IEP).
• Plan and implement therapy programs, develop schedules, and participate in meetings and conferences.
• Use behavior management strategies to create a safe, engaging learning environment; supervise students.
• Incorporate and promote instructional and assistive technology; uphold acceptable use policy.
• Monitor progress and collect data to inform instruction.
• Consult with parents, school personnel, and outside agencies; provide home strategies.
• Provide in-service and training to parents and staff.
• Participate on building level teams and in professional growth activities.

Job Objectives

Provides for the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of communication disorders, enabling students to progress in their educational program.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Evaluate students as a part of the multifactorial evaluation process in the areas of articulation, phonology, language, voice, fluency, pragmatics, and other related areas.
• Assist with the development of the individualized education program (IEP) for students.
• Plan and implement therapy programs for identified students, develop a therapy schedule, participate in team meetings, conferences, etc.
• Use effective behavior management strategies to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment; and is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of students.
• Incorporate and promote instructional, assistive, augmentative, and other types of technology; and uphold the acceptable use policy.
• Utilize appropriate assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring methods to assess academic and social performance and to inform instruction and progress.
• Consult with parents, school personnel, and outside agencies, as appropriate; provide families with techniques to assist with therapeutic interventions at home.
• Provide in-service and training to parents and school personnel.
• Participate on building level teams.
• Participate in professional growth activities through staff development, workshops, in-services, and higher education.
• Uphold board policies, follow administrative guidelines, monitor and comply with Federal and state laws, model policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the education of students with disabilities. Ensure paperwork is accurate, all timelines and deadlines are met (annual reviews, progress reports, etc.), and maintain high ethical and professional standards.

Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions adopted by the Governing Board of the EDUCATIONAL SERVICE CENTER OF CENTRAL OHIO.
