Job summary

Pan American Academy Charter School in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to provide speech and language services to K–8 students. Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Current Pennsylvania license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

  • Appropriate PA educational certification or school-based credential.
  • Experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in school or pediatric settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of the IEP process and compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage a caseload and meet timelines.

Job Description

We are looking for a Part-Time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide speech and language services to students in grades K–8. This role involves evaluating students, providing individualized and small-group therapy, developing and monitoring IEP goals, and collaborating with teachers, families, and members of the Student Services team to ensure students have the communication skills and support needed to succeed academically and socially.

What you will be doing

  • Provide individual and small-group speech and language therapy to students based on their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and reevaluations to identify students’ communication strengths and areas of need.

  • Develop appropriate and measurable speech and language goals and objectives for students receiving special education services.

  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and provide progress reports in accordance with established timelines.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary evaluation meetings, and other student support meetings as needed.

  • Complete evaluation reports, IEP documentation, service logs, progress monitoring, and other required special education documentation accurately and within established timelines.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teachers, related service providers, interventionists, and other school staff to support students across educational settings.

  • Provide teachers and families with strategies and resources to reinforce students’ communication skills in the classroom and at home.

  • Support students with a variety of communication needs, including articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, and social/pragmatic communication.

  • Provide services that are culturally and linguistically responsive to the needs of our diverse student population.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with federal, state, and school requirements related to special education and student services.

What you bring to the table

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Current Pennsylvania license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.

  • Appropriate Pennsylvania educational certification or school-based credential, as required.

  • Previous experience working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the special education process, including evaluations, IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other related service providers.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a caseload and meet required timelines.

  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and linguistic differences and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly preferred.

  • Ability to be patient, flexible, compassionate, and student-centered when supporting students with varying communication needs.

  • Reliable and consistent attendance and performance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 10-month position.

  • Work schedule and weekly hours will be determined based on student caseload and service needs.

  • This position is for in-person work at our Philadelphia location.

  • The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide services during the instructional school year and follow established student service and IEP timelines.

  • In some cases, the starting rate may be non-negotiable.

  • To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit required background clearances and employment paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
