Job summary

Children's Health in Rockwall, TX is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for an outpatient, on-site role. The successful candidate will plan and implement individualized therapy programs for pediatric patients, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and document progress according to standards.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, a graduate degree or higher, Texas licensure, CCC-SLP from ASHA, and BLS. At least three years of SLP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Speech Language Pathology experience.
• Four-year Bachelor's degree required.
• Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required.
• Texas licensure to practice Speech Language Pathology required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA) required.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct Speech Language Pathology services to patients with assessment tools and progress documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, patients, families and health care team for discharge planning.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff therapists, students and rehab aides.
• Assist in developing and reviewing PM&R department policies and participate in QA efforts.
• Meet physical and other job demands; perform additional duties as assigned.

Summary

The incumbent in this position is a senior clinician who is responsible for planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology and collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Children's Health philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct Speech Language Pathology services to patients in accordance with standards of practice; independently select reliable and valid assessment tools relevant to diagnosis, functional limitation and patient history; demonstrate progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions; report on patient progress through appropriate written documentation including evaluations forms, progress notes, education forms; collaborate with physicians, patients, family, and other members of health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning; use unscheduled time to flex to other work areas for patient treatment.
• Serve as a preceptor and act as a mentor for new staff therapists, students and rehabilitation aides; train in specialized assessment tools, advanced treatment techniques and/or specialized treatments; plan, implement and coordinate educational programs (including student programs) within assigned area.
• Assist in developing, interpreting, and reviewing policies and procedures of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department; demonstrate active participation in the department's quality assessment and improvement strategies.
• Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.

EDUCATION

• Four-year Bachelor's degree Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• License to practice Speech Language in the state of Texas Requied
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA Required
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
