Job summary

The SLP will assess and treat speech and language disorders, develop IEPs, collaborate with staff, and educate families while adhering to district policies and state/federal law governing SPED.

Qualifications

• Illinois PEL with endorsement in Speech Language Pathology.
• ASHA CCCs recommended.
• IDFPR license in Speech Language Pathology.
• Knowledge of state and federal SPED laws and procedures for assessment and treatment of communication disorders.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to case manage speech-only students and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat communication disorders including articulations, phonology, receptive language, expressive language, fluency, voice, feeding/swallowing.
• Write and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Collaborate with staff to achieve students' IEP goals.
• Use best practice therapy techniques to help students achieve their goals.
• Maintain data to support progress toward documented goals.
• Educate teachers, staff, and parents about the role of the Speech Language Pathologist.
• Follow district policies, procedures, and ethical standards in special education.
