Job description

The Speech Language Pathologist I assesses and treats patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. This role involves implementing care plans using evidence-based methods, including patient and family education and skilled interventions to help patients achieve functional goals. The position also monitors and evaluates treatment outcomes and requires guidance and mentoring for essential job functions.

Responsibilities include:

1. Conducting comprehensive evaluations of patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
2. Developing and implementing personalized, evidence-based treatment plans based on assessments, patient goals, and needs.
3. Educating patients and families about treatment plans, home exercises, and self-management techniques.
4. Monitoring and documenting patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
5. Collaborating with the healthcare team on discharge planning and continued care recommendations.
6. Reporting patient progress to relevant parties, including families and medical professionals.
7. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Education: Master's degree in Speech Pathology (required)

Experience: Relevant experience preferred

Licensure/Certification:

• Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligibility through a Clinical Fellowship Year.
• Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during Supervised Experience Year.
• BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
