Job summary

Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for the 2026-2027 school year to provide services across pre-k through secondary students with a full range of communication disorders. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Connecticut licensure and certification as a Speech Language Pathologist (061). ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred but not required.
  • Preferred - demonstrated understanding of the urban school setting.
  • Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer technology.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally competent speech language and hearing services to students across pre-k, elementary, and secondary grade levels exhibiting a full range of communication disorders.
  • Provide early intervening services/SRBI through collaborative activities with educators, families, parents and community to minimize risks and exposure.
  • Conducts thorough appropriate, and balanced speech, language, and/or communication evaluations using a comprehensive assessment plan.
  • Interprets data to determine the nature and severity of a student's communication disorder and its effect on academic and social performance.
  • Participate in the Planning and Placement Team/SRBI process to identify students needing assessments for intervention strategies or eligibility.
  • Design and implement evidence-based intervention practices aligned to age and learning needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and administrators to configure school-wide programs in the least restrictive environment.
  • Maintain documentation and data collection systems for service implementation and progress reporting.

Education

Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
Connecticut licensure and certification as a Speech Language Pathologist (061). ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred but not required.
