Job summary

A pediatric healthcare provider is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for part-time home-based services in New York. You will provide speech and language therapy to children and families, contributing to their development and well-being. What You’ll Be Doing At Autism Care Partners
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Provide speech and language services for patients as ordered by the patient’s physician or authorized at IFSP (EI only).
  • Evaluate speech and language disorders and swallowing, provide differential diagnosis of speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders using formal and informal assessments.
  • Utilize therapeutic devices and other means to maintain or restore maximum speech and language capabilities.
  • Plan, instruct, and supervise the patient, family, and other health care providers in the use of specific verbal/physical exercises and equipment as needed to facilitate speech and language skills.
  • Assist with referrals to speech and audiology clinics, dentists, or other related services.
  • Provide counseling and guidance to speech, language, and hearing‑impaired individuals and their families.
  • Submit an initial assessment indicating the level of patient functioning and short‑ and long‑term goals.
  • Submit progress notes after each home visit describing treatment given, modalities used, progress observed, and patient response to treatment.
  • Submit a summary of patient progress toward therapy goals (monthly progress notes for EI only).
  • Submit a discharge summary at time of discharge from therapy.
  • Maintain communication with physicians and other involved in the patient’s care through written reports, attendance at meetings, and documented telephone calls.
  • Coordinate care through the nurse.
  • Refer to speech‑therapy policies for required communication and documentation schedule.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staff case‑management conferences and in‑service programs as required.
Education And Experience
  • Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or in pursuit of ASHA CCC.
  • State license in Speech‑Language Pathology (dependent on locations conducting therapy).
  • Proficiency in the field of autism/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills required, including understanding of Microsoft Office, Windows, Central Reach, and other software as needed.
  • Familiarity with AAC is preferred.
