Job summary

CHKD is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognition, swallowing and/or communication disorders in a hospital setting. The role reports to department leadership and involves supervising therapy programs tailored to maximize patient outcomes.

Required are a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology, state licensure in Virginia (Clinical Fellowship provisional licensure acceptable; must obtain VA license) and ASHA CCC (or CFY).

Qualifications

• Master's degree in speech-language pathology/communication disorders.
• Knowledge of speech-language pathology principles and theories.
• Knowledge and experience in the administration of assessment tools, treatment plans and equipment for communication, language and oral-motor disorders.
• Ability to meet on call requirements of department.

Responsibilities

• Tests, evaluates, treats, diagnoses and prescribes treatment for patients with speech, language, cognition, swallowing and/or communication disorders.
• Provides a full range of diagnostic, counseling and rehabilitative services.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, protocols to enhance patient outcomes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
