Job summary

George Washington University Hospital seeks a Speech Therapist to assess and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in a diverse inpatient and outpatient population.

You will manage complex neurologic, trauma and medically fragile cases, develop evidence-based plans, conduct dysphagia assessments, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced academic medical center.

Qualifications

  • Current state license in Speech-Language Pathology
  • CCC-SLP preferred
  • BLS certification
  • Completion of accredited Speech-Language Pathology program
  • VFSS/FEES experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Conduct swallowing assessments, including instrumental studies when indicated
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and rehab therapists on care plans
  • Educate patients and families on therapy strategies and safety
  • Document assessments and progress in the EMR
  • Participate in rounds and case conferences
  • Supervise or mentor students and contribute to teaching as appropriate
  • Engage in quality improvement and research initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with hospital and professional standards
