Job summary

A local school district in Missouri is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist for the 26-27 school year. The position offers competitive salary increases of $2,500 each year for the first three years, particularly for those holding an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. Applicants must have a valid Missouri certificate and preferably a Master's in a related field. Job description

Per Board policy GCBA, a maximum of 21 years of experience (with proper certification) may be transferred from another elementary or secondary accredited system. The highest step a teacher may enter the district at is step 22 of the salary schedule.

This position is for the 26-27 school year.

Speech Language Pathologists will receive a $2,500 increase to their salary in their first year of employment. SLPs who achieve (or already have) their ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence will receive an additional $2,500 salary increase in their second year of employment. Additionally, if the SLP remains employed as an SLP in the district the following year (a third school year while maintaining their CCCs), they will receive an additional $2,500 increase.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Special Education and Building Principal

Required Performance And Job Responsibilities
  • Adheres to adopted Board of Education policies and maintains strict confidentiality as required by law
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community
  • Organizes and prioritizes educator workload to best meet the needs of students
  • Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth and keeps appropriate records of student progress
  • Identifies pupil needs, makes appropriate referrals and works with special education staff to develop individual education plans
  • Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies
  • Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration/state/federal law
  • Attends all meetings as requested by direct supervisor and district administration
  • Develops a professional development plan annually and commits to life‑long learning and growth
  • Prepares written evaluations and maintains records which clearly and succinctly document services provided, student progress and discharge from therapy
  • Complies with evaluation standards and determines eligibility for services
  • Effectively communicates test results, diagnosis and proposed treatment plans
  • Participates in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility issues, individual education plan (IEP) development, consultation services and service delivery models
  • Assures compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Prepares reports as needed by the school district and/or the MO Department of Education
  • Develops treatment plans consistent with the IEP. Reviews therapy goals and objectives and makes recommendations for changes as appropriate
  • Employs instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student’s goals and objectives
  • Operates and maintains a variety of therapeutic equipment and trains others in use of the equipment as necessary
  • Participates in hearing screening programs to identify and refer students with suspected hearing impairment and/or middle ear disorders
  • Fulfills any and all other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

181 day teacher contract. Teacher salary schedule to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well‑being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
