Job summary

Mounds View Public Schools is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for a full-time, 186-day position serving elementary and middle school students. Start date is August 31, 2026 with required new-teacher PD mid-August.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to due process guidelines and participate in eligibility decisions.
  • Develop and maintain IEPs; facilitate IEP meetings and share progress with families.
  • Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and data privacy laws.
  • Provide direct instruction to remediate communication disorders and support goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to plan language-related curriculum.
  • Provide supervision to paraprofessionals implementing IEP goals.
  • Maintain data to monitor student progress and advocate for students' needs.
  • Stay current with state rules for special education and collaborate with related service providers.
  • Consult with outside agencies and coordinate with insurance/billing when appropriate.

Required Qualifications
  • Appropriate MN teaching license as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Masters degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with students with Communication Disorders
  • Experience working with school age students
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of special education due process procedures
  • Experience working in schools
  • Experience with third party billing (in the schools)
  • Computer proficiency
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Adhere to due process guidelines using district recommended methods and instruments to evaluate and identify the communication disorders of students; participate in team decisions regarding eligibility; and facilitate evaluation plans and reports.
  • Serve as case manager for appropriate students by developing and maintaining IEPs; facilitating IEP meetings; providing parents and/or guardians with Rights and Procedural Safeguards information and notification of team meetings in a timely manner; and developing and sharing progress reports with parents.
  • Maintain and promote confidentiality per data privacy and FERPA legislation.
  • Provide direct instruction to students to remediate their communication disorders or to provide them with an alternate means of communicating and to assist them in attaining their IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and implement curriculum, when related to speech and language goals.
  • Provide job performance feedback to, direct the work of, and support the paraprofessionals in the implementation of the students' IEP goals.
  • Maintain data as required to monitor and evaluate student progress.
  • Advocate for the needs of the child with communication disorders.
  • Participate in relevant staff development opportunities, be knowledgeable about current promising practices in the field of communication disorders, and stay current with state rules and regulations governing special education.
  • Collaborate with IEP case managers and other related service providers.
  • Possess knowledge of technology strategies/equipment available to students and, when needed, provide strategy information to general education teachers.
  • Inquire and bill third parties when parents agree to allow the district to bill their insurance company or medical assistance when needed.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies providing services for students and families.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
