Position Summary

The part-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides individualized speech and language services within a Catholic special-needs school dedicated to nurturing the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The SLP supports students with diverse communication needs through personalized assessment, targeted intervention, and close collaboration with teachers, families, and school leadership. This role contributes to a faith-filled, compassionate community where every student is recognized as a child of God with unique gifts and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

Individualized assessments — Conduct comprehensive evaluations tailored to each student’s learning profile, including formal testing, dynamic assessment, and classroom observation.

Customized intervention planning — Develop therapy goals that reflect student strengths, developmental needs, and the school’s Catholic mission of supporting each learner’s God-given potential.

Therapy delivery — Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group therapy focused on functional communication, social‑pragmatic skills, and language development across academic and faith‑based activities.

Teacher partnership — Collaborate with teachers, aides, and learning specialists to integrate communication strategies into instruction, liturgical participation, and daily routines.

Family collaboration — Maintain warm, proactive communication with families; offer guidance for home carryover; participate in family meetings with sensitivity to faith and community values.

Documentation & reporting — Maintain accurate, timely records of services, progress, and recommendations in alignment with school policies and best practices.

Community engagement — Participate in school events, prayer services, and professional development to strengthen relationships and contribute to the school’s Catholic identity.

Requirements
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.

State licensure as an SLP (Florida licensure required).

ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred; strong CF candidates considered.

Experience supporting students with intellectual disabilities, autism, language‑based learning differences, or complex communication needs.

Respect for and willingness to support the Catholic mission, values, and traditions of the school.

AAC experience — Knowledge of low‑ and high‑tech AAC tools for students requiring alternative communication methods.
