Job description

Position Overview

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide speech and language therapy services and specialized support that helps students improve their communication and learning skills.

Essential Functions

Identify students needing specialized speech or language services, instruction, curriculum, activities and classes and support them with solutions that enable them to thrive in a learning environment and achieve academic goals.

Facilitate individual and/or group therapy activities using curriculum-based materials and content and provide progress reports and documentation as needed.

Supervise support staff as needed and consult with fellow educators regarding accommodations, needs, instructional strategies, necessary equipment and support.

Provide augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language disorders.

Create a classroom and learning environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best.

Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth necessary for primary school success.

Explore individual needs and give side‑by‑side support to discover how each student learns and develop personalized solutions to each student’s learning style and abilities.

Master our proven curriculum, implement our philosophy of education and guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.

Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.

Respond to all internal and external customers in a prompt, efficient, friendly and patient manner.

Maintain courteous relationships with students, staff, parents and community, treating all with respect.

Be active in the role when lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.

Required Qualifications

Master’s or higher degree in the field.

  • NV: NDE Endorsement for Speech and Language Impairments – Certificate
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence – SLP.
Physical Demands

May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, see and read a computer screen or printed material, hear and understand speech at normal levels, speak in audible tones, and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
