Specialized Education Services, Inc. in Illinois seeks a School Speech Language Pathologist to support evaluation, treatment, and progress monitoring of students with communication disorders in a school setting.

The SLP will implement evidence-based therapy sessions, document progress, and collaborate with teachers and families to promote effective communication skills. The position requires a degree in CSD, completion of an approved SLP program, and CPR certification if required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Studies, or a related field.
• Completion of an approved SLP training program.
• Current CPR/BLS certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct speech and language therapy to individual students and small groups.
• Implement treatment plans and intervention strategies as directed, using approved techniques and materials.
• Provide one-on-one support during therapy sessions to reinforce skill development and monitor student progress.
• Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, student progress, and observations, following confidentiality and school policies.
• Prepare materials and reports required for evaluation and ongoing assessment of students.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other related service providers to support students’ communication goals.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding therapy sessions, progress, and home reinforcement strategies.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development to stay current on best practices in speech-language pathology.
• Help organize and maintain therapy materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Coordinate scheduling of therapy sessions and manage student records in compliance with school regulations and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Education & Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Studies, or a related field.
• Completion of an approved SLP training program.
• Current CPR/BLS certification may be required.
• Experience:
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or therapeutic setting is highly desirable.
• Experience in providing direct support in speech and language therapy or related services is a plus.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and documentation.
• Familiarity with evidence-based therapy techniques and a willingness to learn and implement new strategies under supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  

Posted Salary Range

USD $75,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
• Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
• Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotional demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being
