Job summary

Hospital for Special Surgery seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to join the Pediatric Rehabilitation Team. You will perform outpatient evaluations and treatments for children with speech, language, and feeding disorders, collaborating with PT/OT and educating families on care plans.

Preferred candidates have ASHA certification and NYS TSSLD, with 3+ years in pediatrics and experience in feeding therapy, PROMPT and DTTC approaches. NYS licensure required. Position based in New York, NY.

Qualifications

  • ASHA certification and NYS TSSLD are required.
  • 3+ years of pediatric experience preferred, with focus on speech sound disorders and early language development.
  • Experience with feeding/swallowing disorders and related therapies strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pediatric outpatient evaluations and treatments for diverse speech, language, and feeding conditions.

In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.# **What you will be doing**HSS Rehab and Performance is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated speech language pathologist to join our renowned Speech Therapy Team at HSS. As an integral part of our Pediatric Rehabilitation Team, you will be responsible to perform pediatric outpatient evaluations and treatment, catering to young patients with diverse speech, language, and feeding conditions. Collaborative work with our pediatric physical and occupational therapists is key. This role will encompass direct patient care as well as education of patients/families in plan of care and cutting-edge rehabilitation techniques. Additionally, you will also engage in shared team coverage to support bedside swallow assessments and inpatient treatment within the acute care unit for both the pediatric and adult populations. The ideal candidate holds certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association, coupled with NYS Certification as Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Preferred qualifications include a minimum of three years experience working with a broad range of pediatric diagnoses, with advanced experience in speech sound disorders and early language development, including training in PROMPT and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC). Experience in pediatric dysphagia and feeding therapy is strongly preferred, including the assessment and treatment of feeding and swallowing disorders and training in the SOS Approach to Feeding and/or AEIOU. The ideal candidate will also have experience supporting infants with feeding challenges, including breastfeeding and bottle-feeding interventions. Candidates with Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) credentials or equivalent infant feeding experience are highly desirable. Bilingual proficiency in English and another language is not required but is highly valued in supporting the diverse needs of our patient population. New York State license SLP licensure required.
