Job summary

Blythedale Children's Hospital is seeking a compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat medically complex pediatric patients from birth to 18 years old. The role includes developing treatment plans, counseling families, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a state-of-the-art facility.

Requires a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology and NYS SLP license; ASHA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active New York State SLP license is required.
• ASHA certification is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of pediatric experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat medically complex pediatric patients aged birth to 18.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Counsel patients and families on test results and goals.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation for all visits.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Demonstrate knowledge of speech, feeding and cognitive disorders.

Overview

Blythedale Children’s Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our dedicated team. This position involves evaluating and providing therapy for medically complex pediatric patients, from birth to 18 years old, with a wide range of diagnoses. The Speech Language Pathologist will develop and implement effective treatment plans, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and offer counseling to patients and families to support long-term outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation and therapy for complex medical children, ages birth to 18 years old, with varied diagnoses.
• Develop and implement effective treatment programs.
• Provide counseling to patients and families regarding test results and establish treatment goals.
• Create accurate documentation and reporting for all patient visits in an electronic medical record system.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings with medical staff and the child’s educational team.
• Familiarity with a variety of speech, feeding, and cognitive disorders.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.
• Second language proficiency is desired.
• Highly flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of pediatric experience.

Education, Licensure, and Certification

• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Active New York State SLP license required.
• ASHA certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely,
• Ability to lift, pull, carry, bend, crouch, and balance patients from light to heavyweight.
