The Speech‑Language Pathologist reports to the Head of School.

Position Purpose

The Speech‑Language Pathologist is responsible for providing services to meet the learning needs of students with communication and language (oral and written) impairments and other learning differences. Reporting to the Head of School, the positionwill be responsible for conducting assessments, including for screening and progress‑monitoring purposes; developing goals for students; planning and implementing appropriate language (oral and written) communication, and speech treatment services to maximize student learning; consulting and actively participating in classroom instruction with educator colleagues; collaborating with a multidisciplinary team about student learning; and working with teachers to optimize the language of instruction and to provide strategies to address diverse language needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluateand assessstudent needs for language/speech therapy.
• Collaboratewith classroom teachers to optimize language of instruction and the student’s learning environment.
• Select, administer, interpret, and developspecialized tests.
• Gatherdata on student’s educational, medical, social, and psychological history to assist with determining appropriate educational goals and treatment.
• Collaboratewith teachers to ensure the integration of speech/language development techniques into the student’s classroom routine.
• Participatein Parent-Teacher Conferences and provideparent support and information regarding their child.
• Instructparents/guardians in exercises to implement at home.
• Serveas a resource to faculty and conducts workshops regarding language development.
• Consultwith physicians and other agencies and assistwith referring students to appropriate specialists.
• Maintainthorough records for each student receiving speech/language services and providerelated reports.
• Managesupplies and equipment, as needed.
• Performadditional duties, as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of or training in specific programs for reading (e.g., Orton‑Gillingham Approach), writing, and/or executive functioning.
• Knowledge of the Lexia Core5 preferred but not required.

• Flexible teaching background and interest in teaching electives, coaching, and/or advising clubs is a plus
• Ability to work creatively and in a self‑directed manner.
