Brookwood Baptist Health in Homewood, AL, seeks an experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join our hospital team in inpatient rehab and acute care. You’ll evaluate and treat swallowing, communication, and cognitive disorders, with emphasis on MBS and FEES in a dynamic setting.

  • Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • ASHA CCC‑SLP certification is required.
  • Active Alabama SLP license (provisional license acceptable).
  • Current BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification required.
  • No CFYI – prior clinical experience is required.
  • Experience with Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) and FEES in inpatient rehab.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing disorders across varying acuity levels.
  • Conduct and interpret MBS studies and FEES.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans.
  • Re‑evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment goals throughout the continuum of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PTs, OTs, dietitians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Educate patients and families to support safe swallowing, communication, and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliant billing practices.
  • Identify when patients have achieved optimal benefit and communicate discharge recommendations.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) required
  • Active Alabama SLP license (provisional license acceptable)
  • Current BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification
  • No CFYI – prior clinical experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies
    • Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
    • Inpatient rehabilitation and acute care hospital settings
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
