Baptist Health Medical Group in Homewood, AL is seeking an experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join our inpatient rehabilitation and acute care team. This hospital-based role emphasizes swallowing evaluation and intervention, with collaboration across physicians, nurses, PTs and dietitians.

Candidates should have CCC-SLP, an active Alabama license, and a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Experience in MBS/FEES and no CFYI required.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
ASHA CCC-SLP certification required.
Active Alabama SLP license (provisional acceptable).
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
No CFYI – prior clinical experience required.
Experience with Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies.
Experience with FEES and inpatient rehab settings.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders across acuity levels.
Conduct and interpret MBS studies and FEES.
Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
Re-evaluate progress and adjust goals throughout care continuum.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PTs, OTs, dietitians, and teams.
Educate patients and families to support safe swallowing and communication.
Maintain accurate documentation and compliant billing practices.
Identify discharge readiness and communicate recommendations.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing disorders across varying acuity levels
Conduct and interpret Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and FEES
Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans
Re‑evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment goals throughout the continuum of care
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, PTs, OTs, dietitians, and interdisciplinary teams
Educate patients and families to support safe swallowing, communication, and recovery
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliant billing practices
Identify when patients have achieved optimal benefit from therapy and communicate discharge recommendations

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) required
Active Alabama SLP license (provisional license acceptable)
Current BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification
No CFYI – prior clinical experience required
Demonstrated experience in:

- Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
- Inpatient rehabilitation and acute care hospital settings
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
