Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to work primarily at Dicken and Abbot Elementary in Michigan. Candidates should have a Master's degree in Speech and Language along with a valid Michigan teaching certificate. Responsibilities include providing direct services to students with communication and learning disorders and supervising Teacher Assistants.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in Speech and Language or appropriate ASHA certification.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Michigan Teacher Consultant Endorsement; AI and EMI preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Experience providing direct services, consultative services and instruction for students with significant communication and learning disorders, including autism.
  • Experience with TEACCH, applied behavior analysis, PECS, social skills instruction.
  • Knowledge of general education curriculum.
  • Experience with augmentative communication devices.
  • Experience conducting Functional Analysis of Behavior and writing Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Strong collaboration skills required.
  • Supervision of Teacher Assistants.
  • Data collection and progress monitoring required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • This is a full time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Interact with public and other staff as required.
  • Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.
