  • Ensures accurate billing and adherence to departmental policies and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains regular attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies.

Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital is a 60-bed acute-care hospital – with room to grow to 120-beds – located in the Horizon West community of Winter Garden, Florida. The facility offers a full complement of services, including heart care with complete cardio-diagnostic capabilities, digestive health, emergency care, outpatient imaging and lab, orthopedics and sports medicine, and reflux and esophageal disorders. Position Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages with varying acuity levels.

Hours will vary based on patient admissions and census needs (typically range from 3-5 hours p/day on Saturday and/or Sunday)
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from speech therapy.
  • Ensures accurate billing.
  • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Participates in Performance Improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety and infection control, as required.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of legal issues, patient right and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Attends rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and any patient care meetings that are required for the assignment.
  • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment. Instructs support personnel in their duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Education/Training

Master’s degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program.

Licensure/Certification
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or active engagement in the Clinical Fellowship Year requirements.
  • Maintains current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Florida- provisional license is acceptable.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.
Experience

One year of adult experience.

MBS experience required.
