Job summary

Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat communication and swallowing disorders across ages, in a comprehensive medical setting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and the care team, development of individualized treatment plans, and adherence to policies and documentation standards. Florida licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program; CFY may apply.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or active CFY requirements.
  • Current Florida SLP license (provisional acceptable).
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from patient, physician, team, family and other sources.
  • Develops treatment plans with goals integrating with the continuum of care.
  • Assesses data to identify patient needs for age-appropriate care.
  • Maintains equipment familiarity, safety and documentation as required.
  • Re-evaluates and updates treatment plans; documents care team communications.
  • Ensures accurate billing and adherence to Standards of Practice.

Responsibilities
What you will do
  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from speech therapy.
  • Ensures accurate billing.
  • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program. Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) may apply.
  • None.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or active engagement in the Clinical Fellowship Year requirements.
  • Maintains current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Florida- provisional license is acceptable.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.
