Job summary

Bendle Public Schools in Michigan seeks a dedicated K-12 Speech and Language Pathologist to support students’ communication needs within an MTSS framework. The role requires collaboration on goals, attendance at MET/IEPT meetings, and responsibility for equipment, training, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent.
• Michigan certificate with full approval in Speech and Language Impairment.
• ASHA CCC-SLP or eligible/licensed pathway.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and writes evaluations for suspected or enrolled students in speech-language areas.
• Provides direct individual and group speech-language services.
• Consults with staff and families on speech services and AAC devices.
• Develops and writes annual goals and short-term objectives.
• Attends MET/IEPT meetings and maintains documentation.

K-12 Speech and Language Pathologist Job Description

Position Title: K-12 Speech and Language Pathologist

Department: Special Education

Reports to: Special Education Director

Position Summary

Bendle Public Schools seeks a dedicated, student-centered Speech and Language Pathologist (K-12) to support students' developmental and communication needs through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. The successful candidate will utilize a coaching model and evidence-based strategies to help students develop communication skills while collaborating with parents, caregivers, educators, and support staff to promote student success across educational settings.

Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):

• 1. Conducts and provides written evaluations to suspected students with disabilities or students enrolled in special education in the areas of speech, voice, language, and oral motor skills.
• 2. Provides direct one-on-one and group speech and language services to eligible students with disabilities.
• 3. Provides consultation to staff and parents/guardians regarding speech and language services, including use of augmentative communication systems and devices related to  the individual needs of students.
• 4. Develops and writes annual goals and short-term instructional objectives for students assigned to the caseload.
• 5. Attends and participates in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings as requested.
• 6. Compiles and maintains records, written reports, and other documentation for students assigned to the caseload.
• 7. Works as a team member with instructional and ancillary staff to refer eligible students for speech and language services.
• 8. Works as a team member with instructional staff and parents/guardians to refer eligible students to outside agencies and other community resources.
• 9. Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment and supplies for speech and language services.
• 10. Provides in-service information and training to staff for the integration of language development into daily classroom instruction.
• 11. Consults, counsels, and collaborates with parents, school personnel, students, and appropriate community agencies regarding behavioral and educational concerns developed in a multi-tiered system of support.
• 12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology; or
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with full approval in Speech and Language Impairment.

Additionally, candidates must possess:

• A valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License, or
• An Educational Limited License with application for full SLP licensure upon completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Experience:

Previous experience with students with severe handicaps and augmentative communication systems and devices preferred.
