Job summary

Expatiate Communications is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional/Speech Aide to support certificated staff in school-based programs in Anaheim, CA. This part-time role involves clerical, caretaking, and paraprofessional duties with a strong emphasis on assisting students with diverse learning needs.

You'll work under teachers, help prepare instructional materials, supervise students during lunch and recess, and travel to Pasadena for corporate meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of one year (100 hours) of paid or volunteer work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Possess a valid CA Speech Aide license, or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor or support students in small groups or one-to-one under teacher direction.
  • Prepare and set up instructional materials and equipment for classroom activities.
  • Assist teachers in implementing the course of study through instruction.
  • Assist in transporting students to and from school and activities.
  • Maintain routine informational and operational records related to classroom activities.

Description

We are seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional/Speech Aide to provide clerical, caretaking, and paraprofessional support to certificated staff in our educational programs. This position involves a high degree of positive contact with special education students, assisting with learning activities, and helping maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Work Setting: School-Based

Location: Anaheim, CA (Commute to Pasadena, CA Central Office required)

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Start Date: New School Year 2026-2027

What You’ll Do
  • Works with students in small groups or in prescribed one-to-one assignments to tutor, reinforce, or follow up learning activities in basic academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas related to the level of achievement; under direction of teacher, provides individualized instruction by matching instruction to needs of each learner.
  • Assists in organizing learning environment; prepares and sets up instructional materials and/or equipment for use in classroom activities; maintains instructional material and equipment.
  • Assists teachers in implementing the course of study through one-to-one and group instruction.
  • Accompanies or assists students to and from school bus or other transportation and in moving to and from activities on school site.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining routine informational and operational records and files related to classroom/program activities.
  • Confers on a regular basis with a teacher regarding planning and scheduling activities, progress in instructional goals and objectives, pupil progress, and pertinent health or behavior problems.
  • Assists the teacher in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom and learning environment.
  • Assists in the supervision and monitoring of students during lunch & recess.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records and classroom information in accordance with legal requirements and policies.
  • Attends in-service and staff meetings as required.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom.
  • Travel to school sites in the assigned region and occasionally to our Pasadena, CA, for corporate meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma- required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • A minimum of one year (100 hours) of paid or volunteer work.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Basic understanding of child development and behavior.
  • Possess a valid CA Speech Aide license, or be eligible and willing to obtain one through the Speech-Language Pathology Board.
Experience
  • Prior experience working with children is required.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and classroom support techniques.
  • Familiarity with special education principles is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience in childcare, daycare, or early childhood education is beneficial.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
