Job summary

The Dunlap C.U.S.D. 323 invites applications for a full-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 school year.

Under the supervision of the Student Services Director, the teacher will provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, coordinate with general education staff, and contribute to an adaptive, inclusive curriculum. Qualifications

• Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements.

This position is full-time, certified staff with benefits for the 2026-2027 school year.

Reports to: Director of Special Education

Position Objective

Under supervision of the Student Services Director, Teacher of the Visually Impaired will provide quality education to students with visual impairments through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs; an appropriate, community based curriculum; communication and social skill development; inter-district cooperation, and a strong parent-teacher-student linkage. Opportunities exist to develop and experiment with adaptive technology; implement best practices, and integrate with non-handicapped populations and general education populations.

Essential Functions:

Planning and Preparation

• Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy
• Demonstrates knowledge of students and plans instruction for individual students' needs
• Sets instructional outcomes as goals that can been assessed
• Demonstrates knowledge of resources
• Designs coherent instruction and differentiates with appropriate resources, groups and structure
• Designs student assessments that are aligned with the instructional outcomes

The Classroom Environment

• Creates an environment of respect and rapport
• Establishes a culture for learning
• Manages classroom procedures
• Manages student behavior by setting clear standards of conduct
