Job summary

MORGAN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-3 in Colorado seeks a SPED Teacher Assistant to support certified teachers in delivering an inclusive learning environment for students with special needs. The paraprofessional will work directly with students, assisting in classroom activities, and helping implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

You will provide one-on-one or small group support, assist with daily living activities, and help foster social skills and positive behavior.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs.
• Help with activities of daily living as needed.
• Support students in developing social skills and managing behaviors.
• Work closely with the classroom teacher to deliver instruction tailored to the needs of each student.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials and activities.
• Assist in adapting classroom activities and materials to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
• Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist in managing student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during classroom activities, recess, and field trips.
• Collaborate with the teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to each student’s education.
• Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records related to student performance, behavior, and progress.
• Document incidents or significant observations as required by school policies.
• Assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
• Supervise students during transition, meals, and other non-classroom activities.
• Support inclusion by helping students participate in general preschool activities.
