Chicago Heights School District 170 is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a self-contained classroom serving grades K-8 in Illinois. The role focuses on creating a flexible elementary program, building rapport with students, and guiding the development of skills to prepare for upper grades.
The teacher reports to the Principal and other administrative personnel, supervises classroom assistants, and implements IEPs with tailored instructional plans.
Special Education Classroom
An appropriate, valid Illinois State Teaching Credential to teach grades K-8 in a self-contained classroom. Special Education teachers must hold an endorsement in their assigned area.
To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper grade education in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Special Services, and other administrative personnel.
Classroom assistants, when applicable.
Salary, benefits, and work year as established in the Teachers' Contract.
$49,144 - $60,348. Salary commensurate with experience.
